Whenever you tell someone you are traveling to Amsterdam, they directly gift you their wildest smirks and probably wish you a very high time. It is certainly the city of freedom where the illegal and prohibited elsewhere is pleasantly accepted and encouraged. But apart from all the cannabis coffee shops and the buzzing red light district, Amsterdam is a city rich in culture.In an attempt to explore beyond the expected, I found some fascinating spots along its historic canals and realized first hand why they also call it the Venice of the North. The perfectly allocated buildings give off an effortless medieval feel interrupted only by people on bicycles, carefully keeping in line and don’t you dare step on the bike path!

The Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Stedejik museum are amongst the iconic to do list that once you tick off will ensure a natural high that you will keep on experiencing as you wander down a canal holding the cheapest and most beautiful tulips you will probably ever buy.
