Pretty Things

We all like to look at pretty things, and sometimes it helps when a team of experts makes sure you get the maximum dose of beauty while looking just inside one room. Yesterday, I had the chance to attend an exclusive preview and private tour of the beautiful pop-up house installation by Harper Bazaar at Mall of the Emirates. I was taken on a guided journey of the house that started with a healthy treat recipe, followed by a room full of fashion dreams and limited edition items, ending with beauty tips. Taking a Break

It’s the season, one fashion week followed by another fashion week. The cities might change but more often than not the captions, poses and people remain all the same. As much as we love it, it can be a little bit too much sometimes. The unbearable truth: even nectar is poison if taken to excess. Instagram might be the culprit, fueled by people’s incessant need to fit in by wearing the latest “IT” anything. We all might fall into the trap occasionally. And it’s all right as long as we make a conscious effort to remember to take a break. Detox your wardrobe and your mind. Get comfy by wearing whatever makes you happy, be it a sweater and pants, or a long sequined dress.

The unbearable truth: even nectar is poison if taken to excess

Forget about Instagram, likes and the latest runway trend. You can be aware of where fashion is going, you just don’t have to always follow it. Continue reading “Taking a Break”

All Day Maxi

We usually tend to think of long dresses as a night-outfit option but there is nothing more attractive than an unexpected maxi dress during the day, even more so if it is filled with a striking print. Long gone are the days when what dictated your outfit was the place or time of outing, now it’s all in your mind. If you feel like it, just wear it! Continue reading “All Day Maxi”

Picnic Mood

There are few prints that clearly remind us of our childhood and gingham happens to be one of them. From picnic cloths to school uniforms, we’ve all seen it before but we never really thought that it will be back flooding Pinterest boards and magazine photoshoots. We are lovers of the black classic version but this red variation is just refreshing. Patched jeans anyone? We are certainly not over that trend either! Continue reading “Picnic Mood”

DETOX

Just like passion and love, creativity grows on its use. Lately and though it has been quiet here on the blog, we have been exercising our creativity avidly on both personal and professional projects, some of which we can’t wait to share on the blog. Between all the work and growing, we always crave that one-day detox where we can escape to a tranquil place and recharge. We do lots of nothings and that is sometimes all you need. Where’s your detox place? Continue reading “DETOX”

The Basket Bag

What once was humble has become an “it” item. Following the path of torn out jeans and worn out tees (pieces destined for the bin before they were classified as cool), the basket bag has now stepped in. Before waking up to finding every straw bag sold out, it was a bag that we used to use for the beach and if you were traveling to places like Bali, it would be their equivalent of a plastic bag. We are honestly delighted by the transformation. Continue reading “The Basket Bag”

Instagram Jeans

Some trends are so pretty you feel they were made for Instagram. Pearl-embellished jeans seem to be one of them. It’s been a while since we put our skinny jeans to rest and have dutifully embraced wide leg pants, flares, and high-waist jeans but adding something so small and delicate as pearls definitely doubles the outfit glam. These Zara pants are probably one of their bestseller items this season, and it’s easy to see why. The pearls seem to barely be touching the denim, giving off a fairy vibe. Superga Everyday

We cannot be who we are on social media, not completely. No matter how much someone keeps on insisting that they are their true self, deep down we all know that there is always something orchestrated. The light, the angle, the words, something subconsciously has been planned, and more often than not, a caption tries to erase all doubt by insisting that it was “spur of the moment”, and it succeeds at only confirming the contrary. And little by little, the world becomes comfortable with the distorted perspective on reality. Continue reading “Superga Everyday”

Bag Discovery

Have you ever had enough of something without even owning it? It happens to us sometimes, seeing the same shoes or bags over and over again being worn by a complete stranger can drive you to think that you have it and that you would gladly give it a rest at the back, back of your closet. Instagram’s influx of photos does not really help. Seeing the big international brands everywhere and on everyone can sometimes be a put-off, considering the 4-digit price figures you have to pay, and the counterfeit wave that usually follows a successful bag model. And so we are enlightened when we come across new brands that are offering unpretentious designs complemented by great quality. Continue reading “Bag Discovery”
