Yanni in Jbeil

Finally! Byblos International Festival started on Sunday. Every year I wait for the list of performers to be disclosed and I was more than thrilled when they announced that worldwide superstar Yanni was opening this year’s edition.
My night started off early by walking on the stone pavements while taking pics. Arriving early always makes parking and getting to our seats more relaxing and enjoyable. There is something about Jbeil. If you have been there, you know it. And if you haven’t, I highly recommend you do. It is the oldest inhabited city in the world. Jbeil’s beautiful old souks, little cafes and pubs combined with the warm light during sunset make it seem like a magical city.

And magic did happen once the concert started. Here is where I am speechless and anything I say will fall short on what I experienced last Sunday. It is safe to say that I never really knew what Yanni was about until now. Live performances are definitely irreplaceable experiences! It was all extremely high on emotional content. Yanni managed to completely transport the audience to somewhere else.
Besides delivering an exceptional performance, Yanni praised our food and country as most of artists do when they come and visit Lebanon. A line he said did strike my mind and heart: “You live in a piece of heaven”… I will leave you with some of the pics and the hope that this piece of heaven can withstand any test and find strength from amazing music and vibrant events like this.

  1. Yanni has been in all places around the world. If he says you live in a piece of heaven, he’s right.
So glad to know he’s being able to make so many dreams come true with his World Without Borders Tour.
